B'nai B'rith International (BBI) opened a European Union (E.U.) office in Brussels, Belgium, in 2007 to address the growing importance of the region as a major player in international affairs and to foster strong relationships among the United States, Israel, and the European Union.
The office closely monitors the activities and decisions of E.U. institutions with respect to Middle East policy and Jewish concerns. The office reacts immediately to European political developments that involve Israel and the Jewish people.
Located in close proximity to the European Commission in Brussels, the BBI E.U. Affairs Office documents relevant events and decisions and provides information and analysis of current news and actions from the E.U. Staff regularly consults with members of the European Parliament and officials in the European Commission. The office also hosts programs on timely issues, and invites E.U. decision makers to participate.
